Kami memiliki server basis data yang sangat aktif dengan koleksi aplikasi eklektik yang berjalan di atasnya. Dua yang paling sibuk adalah basis data Laserfiche yang melakukan pemindaian dokumen dan pemrosesan alur kerja sepanjang hari (rata-rata sekitar 2.800 permintaan batch / detik) dan aplikasi server blackberry yang merutekan email. Ada juga sekitar 25 database aplikasi kecil lainnya.
Kami adalah agen pemerintah sehingga kami hanya diberi anggaran untuk satu lisensi server DB.
Baru-baru ini kami diberi SAN untuk mengatasi masalah pertikaian disk.
Jadi saat ini kami memiliki TempDB yang berjalan di disk sendiri (raid 1 mirror pair), dan kami telah memindahkan log transaksi dan file data ke SAN. Log transaksi diletakkan di satu lokasi logis dan file data di lokasi lain. Secara fisik array yang sama tetapi array yang terdiri dari 14 total spindle (disk) dalam konfigurasi raid 1 + 0.
SAN yang cukup gemuk - dan segalanya berjalan jauh lebih baik. Panjang antrian terpotong menjadi dua.
Hanya hari ini kami juga diberi pilihan lain. Kami juga dapat memiliki array disk 4 jika kami membutuhkannya saat ini di server file. Saya tahu memiliki MDF dan LDF pada dua array terpisah umumnya direkomendasikan tetapi satu-satunya cara untuk melakukan itu dalam situasi kita adalah dengan memindahkan data atau transaksi log dari SAN ke 4 array disk yang dikonfigurasi sebagai Raid 5. Perlu diingat mereka saat ini dalam volume logis yang terpisah tetapi berbagi array fisik yang sama.
Memotret dari pinggul Saya merasa seperti memiliki MDF dan LDF bersama-sama pada larik 14 spindle raid 1 + 0 mungkin sama baiknya dengan memisahkannya dengan larik 4 pada spindle raid 5 array. Tapi, saya tidak akan berada di sini bertanya apakah saya adalah ahli logika disk Kedua opsi menggunakan disk SAS 15k yang pada dasarnya identik - yaitu, masing-masing spindel pada dasarnya indentis.
Jadi, intinya pertanyaannya adalah. Apakah memiliki MDF / LDF pada larik 14 spindel tunggal yang dikonfigurasikan sebagai raid 1 + 0 akan ditingkatkan dengan margin yang signifikan (atau sama sekali) dengan memindahkan data atau masuk ke array 4 spindle raid 5 itu sendiri?
